Normani Kordei is a name you won’t forget in the near future.
Normani is one song in her solo career and is already breaking records. Kordei has been in the Billboard Hot 100 before but never as a solo artist. Normani is one of the four ladies in Fifth Harmony and has had many entries to the chart before now, but what makes this entry special?
On February 14, 2018, Normani Kordei released her first official single outside of Fifth Harmony alongside singer-songwriter Khalid. This collaboration between the two is featured on the “Love, Simon” official movie soundtrack.
Two days after its release, Khalid posted the official music video to his VEVO channel and it had everyone talking about the spark and chemistry the two singers have. The music video itself has gathered over 6 million views in a little over a week! The song on Spotify has gathered over 22 million streams and given Normani more than 7 million monthly listeners.
This week, Billboard released its weekly chart update of The Hot 100 and “Love Lies” debuted at number 43. Sadly, since the track was released mid-week of the last charting period, this week’s position reflected mostly on streams and radio spins. With this chart position, Normani is the second member of Fifth Harmony who has achieved to debut on The Hot 100 following Lauren Jauregui & Halsey’s collaboration “Strangers”. Jauregui’s entry debuted at number 100 of the chart in June last year.
Although everyone doubted Normani would do any good outside of Fifth Harmony, she is proving everyone wrong. Normani is now the highest debuting member of Fifth Harmony, what do you think? Will she be the next big thing?
